October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so it is important to be extra aware of risk factors. Recently, an online calculator was developed so that women can be more aware of their risks and preventative health care.
This breast cancer fighting kale smoothie is packed with fresh and potent ingredients that help with the fight against breast cancer. Let’s take a closer look at the ingredients.
Carrots:
Carrots are packed with vitamin A, which is a key nutrient and a potential cancer fighter. Recent research from the Thomas Jefferson University shows that vitamin A has the ability to reverse pre-cancerous cells back to normal breast cells.
Celery:
Celery is a potent detoxifying vegetable. It is high in water, and it helps flush out toxins from the body. It contains a potent compound called apigenin, which is believed to help treat breast cancer.
Kale:
Kale is packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents and may help fight cancer. Like all cruciferous vegetables, kale is also a great source of glucosinolates, which in a study published in the International Journal of Cancer showed potential anti-cancer benefits.
Lemons:
Lemons are packed with vitamin C, which is a potent antioxidant known to kill cancer causing free radicals. Studies have also shown that lemon extract may help kill malignant breast cancer cells.
Process the following ingredients in a blender:
3 carrots
1 stalk of celery
1 cup of kale, chopped
Juice from 1/2 a lemon
