Coconut oil is a potent Alzheimer’s fighter, and may rescue the brain from the disease, according to research from Canada.
The study adds to the mounting evidence that coconut oil is great for brain health and may fight diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
The study abstract explained the following details:
In other words, the researchers found that coconut oil was able to reduce the effects of amyloid-beta, which is a harmful protein that is one of the main drivers of Alzheimer’s disease.
According to the researchers: “The rationale for using coconut oil as a potential AD [Alzheimer’s Disease] therapy is related to the possibility that it could be metabolized to ketone bodies that would provide an alternative energy source for neurons, and thus compensate for mitochondrial dysfunction.”
