How to calculate your metabolic heart rate

Let’s take a look at how to calculate your metabolic heart rate.

Heart rate and metabolic heart rate are two different things. When your or your doctor checks your pulse, it’s your heart rate that is being measured.

Your metabolic rate calculates how fast you burn energy when you are at rest. Knowing your metabolic rate is important because it helps you determine how many calories to consume during the day.

How to calculate your metabolic heart rate

1. Weigh yourself when you wake up before eating or drinking anything. Divide this number by 2.2 to convert it to kilograms if necessary.

2. Convert your height to centimeters by multiplying it in inches by the number 2.54. You will have to convert your height to inches before multiplying.

3. Then, plug your measurements into the Mifflin-St Jeor, which will calculate your metabolic heart rate. The formula is as follows:

Men

10 x weight (kg) + 6.25 x height (cm) – 5 x age (y) + 5

Women

10 x weight (kg) + 6.25 x height (cm) – 5 x age (y) – 161.
