Stars align at Outside Lands 2015 as it becomes a worldwide music event:
The eight annual Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival was by far the best we attended.
It truly raised the standards when it comes to music festivals.
The one of a kind green oriented and world’s only gourmet music festival that Rolling Stone hailed as “one of America’s best,” has raised the bars this time.
It took place in San Francisco’s historic Golden Gate Park August 7-9, 2015
A significant portion of every ticket sold benefited San Francisco’s Recreation and Park Department.
In its 8th consecutive year Outside Lands has become THE top green festival in the country.
One of the highlights was the long awaited performance by Sir Elton John. It is the first time that Sir Elton John performs in the Golden Park. Thousands and thousands showed up for the magical performance. Sir Elton serenaded the adoring crowd with his famous songs among many others “Candle in the night”.
[pullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”#228B22″ class=”” size=”17″] “Thank you San Francisco, I would not be here if it were not for you! Thank you San Francisco for your generosity,” said Elton John.[/pullquote]
The 2015 music lineup was impressive and included D’ Angelo and The Vanguard, Mumford & Sons, The Black Keys, Sam Smith, Kendrick Lamar, Wilco, Leon Bridges, Chet Faker, and so many more.
To top it off, Outside Lands offered organic foods and drink options. It truly surpassed last year’s 200+ food menus and California craft brews.
It included A Taste of the Bay Area, Wine Lands, Beer Lands, Choco Lands, Cheese Lands and GastroMagic, which is a fully programmed stage devoted to fantastical culinary entertainment.
Last but not least, Outside Lands’ green and sustainable approach must be highlighted and includes Eco lands. Big thanks to NRG Energy for powering EcoLands this year.
Eco Lands has been an example in leading the way with its urban gardening workshops, local community organizations, national NGO’s, a farmer’s market, locally sourced food vendors and a refillable water station.
Other green initiatives include a refillable water program, waste diversion, bike valet and mobile bike shop, farmer’s market to name a few.
Outside Lands has raised a whopping $10 million for the benefit of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department. A 2011 economic study reported that the festival generates over $70 million annually to the San Francisco economy.
Take a step and support San Francisco’s beautiful parks.
