Ginger and lentil detox soup

This ginger and lentil detox soup is packed with potent legumes, herbs, and vegetables. Let’s take a closer look at the ingredients in this soup.

Black pepper:

Carrots:

Directions:

Heat 2 tbsps of olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat
Add 3 chopped carrots and one red onion to the oil
Cover and cook for 3 minutes until the vegetables are soft
Add 2 tsps of grated ginger and 2 garlic cloves, chopped and cook 1 more minute
Add a pinch of salt, 1/2 tsp of black pepper, and 1/4 tsp of turmeric
Cook for 1 more minute
Add 2 cups of chicken or vegetable broth, and 3 cups of water
Add 1 cup of red lentils
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat
Simmer for 25 minutes or until lentils are soft
Remove from heat, garnish with chopped cilantro, and serve
