With eco-splendor and extravagance of 1920s America, Global Green USA held its 9th Annual Gorgeous and Green San Francisco Gala.
The event took place at the Bently Reserve, a beautiful San Francisco LEED-certified green building owned by devoted green leader Christopher Bently. The theme of the night was the “Green Gatsby” and was filled with eco-conscious and superbly chic guests dedicated to making a difference.
Powerful tandem Zem Joaquin and Nadine Weil orchestrated the glamorous event.
When asked what it meant to host such a benefit, this is what co-chair Nadine Weil had to say: “Zem and I were delighted to co-chair the Gorgeous and Green Gala together for our ninth year. The event is really growing each year and we are spreading our mission with green elegance Gatsby style,” stated Nadine Weil, founder of Heart of Green.
Dressed in vintage 1920s celebrity honorary hosts Rosario Dawson and Maggie Grace added Hollywood flair to the elegant affair.
” We all need to do our part and show the world green is the way to go. I am honored to be part of this event, “shared Rosario Dawnson.
” I make green choices everyday from the organic make up I use, the sustainable food I eat and the bicycle I ride, ” Maggie Grace was eager to mention to us.
Guests enjoyed exclusive musical performances by Eoin Harrington of RH Music playing a Gatsby medley with Kelly McFarling, and Ken Jordan of The Crystal Method, as well as a lively dance performance of the Charleston by the Decobelles.
The night began with a cocktail party where guests mingled. Dinner guests were treated to an organic dinner masterfully prepared by acclaimed, Michelin-starred chef Ken Frank of La Toque in Napa, CA.
Matt Petersen, CEO of Global Green announced the Eco- Accolades winners. Intel, Adobe and the PlumpJack Group were the lucky winners this year, for their achievements and unsurpassed commitment to sustainability.
The event expanded into the much awaited eco-fashion show curated and styled by Lily Achatz and co-produced by Clarissa Nicosia and Lily Achatz.
It showcased the Great Gatsby era in eco-fashion style with models in vintage couture from Decades of Fashion in San Francisco, eBay Green, Torso Vintages, and Rose La Mer, as well as bespoke suits from The Artful Gentleman and eco-conscious gowns from Cari Borja.
Last, but not least, Brooks Brothers who outfitted F. Scott Fitzgerald in his day, and created the men’s costumes for the recent blockbuster movie The Great Gatsby featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, was also part of the runway.
Following suite, guests had a chance to take fun and glamorous pictures at the Gatsby photo booth organized by Drew Altizer and Catalyst Arts.
The benefit was a big success and exceeded its fundraising goals.
Guests left with a beautiful tote bag filled with eco-goodies courtesy of Earth Friendly Products. They seemed inspired by eco-conscious initiatives unveiled to them.
